The Last House Review: How Long Can You Survive

I usually tell myself I have watched enough movies and have a couple of survival tricks up my sleeve. After watching movies like The Walking Dead, Aliens, and World War Z, I am confident enough to say I could survive it if it ever happened in real life.

First of all, I appreciate the cinematography behind The Last House because the movie was simply beautiful; the color grading complemented the story perfectly. Directed by Louis Leterrier, this film follows a family of four trapped indoors. They must work together to survive their dwindling resources and the mystery that keeps them confined.

If I were stuck in such a circumstance, I would want to be with this family. Jason (Wagner Moura) and Ann (Greta Lee) try their best to remain positive for their children until the very end. Their resourcefulness was both interesting and well thought out. The father gave off Rick-from-The Walking Dead vibes with his patience and his willingness to do anything for his family. However, the five-year timeline felt far-fetched in my opinion, and the rest of the characters could have been explored more deeply.

Moral of the story: listen to your child and consider what they say; it might be helpful.
