All three short films have Anna Ladegaard in the lead role and are by Ivar Aase.
My introduction to Lotte was contrary to what I expected.
I met her through Complications. True to the name, it was complicated. This short film takes one on an unexpected emotional rollercoaster. A little warning: it insinuates explicit content. This film, Complications, is a narrative that follows an intimate cam session that unexpectedly turns into a life-and-death situation.
With my curiosity piqued, I found myself watching Transactions. She was looking to sell her PlayStation; it was supposed to be simple and seamless. Yet the man looking to buy knew her from her online explicit work. What was supposed to be an exchange of goods might end up being an exchange of services.
Naturally, I watched Reservations as well. Yet in this feature, Lotte happens to be dining with her father. However, a man walks in and is later met with a date. This makes Lotte come clean, explaining to her father how he knew the man.
This trilogy is made in different years. Ivar Aase improves in storytelling with each film. The latest, Complications, holds more depth and stakes, pulling viewers in. They are all well documented, capturing the films core idea. However, the central idea is how far one would go for a livelihood.
